Gallery2 kicked my dog
My webhost has this great little program called Fantastico, it will automatically install lots of commonly used open-source scripts, such WordPress, what you’re reading right now. There are three image gallerys available for install. 4Image, Coppermine, and Gallery2. Today I tried installing all three, and I’d like to share my experiences with you…
Gallery2 looked the most promising, so I installed that first. All seemed to go well. I was able to log in, and start tinkering around. Gallery2 has an option to add all images found in a web folder to a single album! Amazing! I tried this, it added everything… created beautiful thumbs… and you can open them! Click on the image, and it just reloads the page with the thumbs! Nothing I found worked to remedy this.
Next up was Coppermine. After installing it, I was less than impressed with the interface, but I figured I’d give it a try. After tinkering around I realized I couldn’t mass-upload images. Forget this..
Third? 4images. Another solution from a German developer. No mass-upload option, but a decent interface. After tinkering around I decided to go ahead and upload the pics one by one… 23 pictures later, I find that it isn’t generating thumbnails…
